TAPA:2007

The Technical Asset Protection Association, TAPA is the association of security professionals from high technology companies.  They have organised to address the emerging security and theft threats common to the transport of high value technical equipment.  TAPA members’ products are high in value and have become smaller and therefore more portable, more powerful and more desirable to organised crime syndicates.

TAPA:2007 is a global management system certification standard operating in three regions; Americas, EMEA and Asia.  There are two main standards; Freight Security Requirements (FSR) and Logistics Security Requirements (LSR).  These schemes follow a two year certification period with a pre-audit and a certification audit similar to other management system certification schemes (ISO9000, ISO14000, OHSAS 18001…) but with the added element of an interim self-assessment audit.

By seeking certification to TAPA clients benefit from compliance to the wishes of TAPA members; Intel, Hewlett Packard, Sony etc to demonstrate that their distribution/warehousing facility meets the minimum security measures required to handle their goods.  TAPA standards specify the minimum acceptable levels for security throughout the distribution supply chain and the methods to be used in maintaining that level of security. TAPA standards outline the process and specification to attain TAPA certification for facilities and transit operations.

Bureau Veritas Certification has conducted TAPA audits throughout the three regions.  We draw on trained and qualified staff with extensive experience in operations of Freight Forwarders, Warehouse Operations and Security Management to provide our client base with assurance and confidence that thorough and comprehensive evaluation work and auditing is performed.
